What is the "Orphan Nation"?
At the present time, 163 million children in our world are orphans. If these children were counted as a single nation, they would compose the seventh largest nation on earth. The sad truth is that many of these children are not provided with role models of moral excellence. Instead, they fall prey to exploitation, drug abuse, crime, violence, disease and poverty, thus starting the vicious cycle over again. Every nation in the world shares a piece of this tragedy, and so it is up to all of us to find a solution together.
While a number of US organizations promote the adoption of children by American families both internationally and domestically, partners of A Home for Every Orphan concentrate on supporting adoption and foster care of children within their native countries.
Adoption in any form, whether international or domestic, is a beautiful response to God’s call to care for orphans. Yet, we believe that international adoption is not a feasible long-term solution for providing homes for the millions of children that currently populate the Orphan Nation. This is why we have chosen to uniquely focus on assisting foster and adoptive families in national adoption and foster care and promoting programs that will result in more countries developing child welfare, adoption and foster care systems that are self-sustaining and will result in more children growing up in loving families.
Our present focal point is orphans who live in Russia and Ukraine. This is partially due to:

both countries recently started inspiring grass-roots movements towards building infrastructures that support and promote adoption and foster care by national families.
